On Saturday, Danny Tarkanian published online his 15 years of salary from the Tarkanian Basketball Academy (TBA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Tarkanian has been compensated an average salary of $44,786.07 per year since 2003.
For five out of the 15 years of TBA’s existence, Tarkanian earned no salary at all; and for 11 out of the 15 years, Tarkanian earned less than $40,000.
Upon publication, Danny Tarkanian said:
“For 15 years, my team and I have worked tirelessly to provide a constructive place to teach young kids the life lessons learned through playing sports. I invested over $2 million dollars of my own money to make Tarkanian Basketball Academy a reality, and today it thrives as the preeminent local sports facility.
Biased journalists and D.C. operatives insultingly attempt to politicize the good work that TBA has done for our community. They purposely neglect to report the entire 15 years of my salaries since the founding of TBA in 2003. Instead, they manipulate the truth by focusing only on the 3 years that I earned a raise to offset the years when I earned nothing at all. So I’m calling out their deceptive tactics by releasing my full salary information to the public.
I’m immensely proud of my decade and a half of hard work and, most of all, the enormous impact that TBA continues to have on the lives of thousands of young Nevadans.”
Over a 5 year period, from 2012-2016, the CEOs of Communities In Schools (CIS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, earned an average salary of $124,895.20 per year. Susie Lee, Democratic candidate for Nevada CD-3, has served as the president of CIS since 2012.
